Canadian, American abducted in Kaduna, 2 policemen killed

An American and a Canadian were kidnapped in Kaduna
- They were reportedly on their way to Abuja when the attack was carried out
- Two police officers providing security for them were killed by the abductors
A Canadian and an American have reportedly been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Kaduna resulting in the death of two police officers.
According to Reuters, the incident happened on Tuesday, January 16 around Kagarko on their way from Kaduna to Abuja.

It was reported that the two police officers provided as escorts engaged in a shootout with the gunmen but died during the attack before the foreigners were taken away.

A police spokesperson confirmed the abduction on Wednesday, January 17.
“The two police escorts attached to them engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle, which resulted in the unfortunate death of the two police officers.”
Meanwhile, Operatives of the inspector general of police Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT) arrested two militants suspected to be involved in the kidnap and killing of British hostages.

While Squire was killed, David Donovan, his wife, Shirley and Alanna Carson, were
freed on November 6, after an undisclosed amount was paid to the militant as ransom, having spent 24 days in captivity.
